    Hi Aly

After the birth of my first daughter, I didn't menstruate - though I did get pregnant again! - for seven years.    Then I went to see a homeopath who gave me the homeopathic remedy Silicea.  I started menstruating within days.  You can buy silicea at Whole Foods, Natural Grocers and similar stores.  I'd try the 30C - taking a few pellets a couple of times a day.  If that doesn't work, find a homeopathic practitioner near you and go see him/her.

Thank you! That is so encouraging!  I will look for this this week.  But i have been reading about Silicea and it mentions nothing about menstrual cycles?  Did he tell you to take it for your cycles and did you do anything else that may have helped them return?

DId the Slilicea help anything else for you?

    Thank you Bonnie!!

BOnnie Did you have any bone loss during that time? Or did you supplement with something to prevent bone loss? Also were you underweight those 7 years? I just watched a YouTube video about it most likely tied to too low body fat?

    Hi Aly

It's been 20 years since this happened, so it is possible that I have the wrong remedy - maybe it was sulfur or sepia, but I know it started with an S.  Thought is was silicea.  In any case, a homeopath would be best able to assess which remedy would be most beneficial for you, since there are usually a couple that might help, but which works the best may depend on what else is going on with you.  I  was/am thin, but I don't know that I had too low body fat.  I do know that really low body fat can be an issue though - so you hear of a lot of women athletes who do not menstruate.  I have no idea whether there was any bone loss.  I never have heard of that being associated with not menstruating.  I probably took some calcium supplements, because doctors are always advising people to take them - but again I don't remember if I was doing so at the time.  If you are experiencing bone loss, as well as not getting your period, you also should look at eliminating gluten from your diet.  Gluten, it is now being discovered, can do a lot of things besides wreck your gastrointestinal tract - things such as bone loss (probably due to poor absorption due to the damage to the gut), neuropathy (that was my issue) , and endocrine/hormonal imbalances.   Check out www.celiac.org for information.
